The Hofbeats

The Hofbeats are one of the only co-ed a cappella groups here at Hofstra, but we're also a family that shares a love of singing and making music! We perform at many on-campus events such as Admitted Students Days, Open Houses, and tons of other opportunities that arise. Aside from performing at on-campus events, we travel to different universities in the tri-state area to perform at Invitationals with other A Cappella groups! We also compete in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCAs....yes, just like Pitch Perfect!) every spring. In 2018, our group won the ICCA quarterfinal at Monmouth University, and we performed at The Kimmel Center In Philadelphia for the semi-finals. In the same year, we were also awarded as Hofstra’s Performance Organization of The Year! Also, in 2021, our group placed 2nd in the ICCA Quarterfinal Round then placed 3rd in the ICCA Semifinal Round and advanced as far as the ICCA Wildcard Round - the highest placing of any Hofstra A Cappella group ever! We were also awarded Hofstra's Performance Organization of the year in the same year! In 2022, we placed 3rd in the ICCA Northeast Quarterfinal, and won the ICCA Northeast Wildcard Round! Additionally, we recently placed 3rd in the 2022 ICCA Northeast Semifinals! We don’t just perform live, though. We love to record music and put it out to Spotify, Apple Music, and all other streaming platforms. We have released our first ever EP "Listen" in the fall of 2019, as well as our single from Summer 2020, "Bye Bye Bye" by NSYNC (and you can check the music video out on YouTube!) We have been releasing several music videos, singles, and EP's since then, so check out our YouTube for some of those Music Videos- including our award-winning video "Paint it, Black" by the Rolling Stones!
